L’exposition « The Good, the Beast, and the Weird » est une invitation à repenser « la fin de l’exception humaine » (Jean-Marie Schaeffer) et à célébrer les rencontres inter-espèces dans des mondes hallucinatoires. Elle nous incite à percevoir le vivant non pas comme des entités distinctes, mais plutôt comme une performance trans-espèces, visant à abolir les hiérarchies et conceptions anthropocentriques. En d’autres termes, les artistes s’éloignent des schémas dualistes homme/animal, nature/culture pour créer des fusionnements temporels. Certains évoquent le fantasme futuriste d’une créature hybride, tandis que d’autres déterritorialisent (Philippe Descola) et provoquent une rencontre où l’homme, l’animal et l’environnement partagent une sensibilité voire une angoisse commune de la réalité.

The exhibition “The Good, the Beast, and the Weird” is an invitation to rethink “the end of human exceptionalism” (Jean-Marie Schaeffer) and to celebrate interspecies encounters in hallucinatory worlds. It urges us to perceive the living not as distinct entities but rather as a trans-species performance, aiming to abolish anthropocentric hierarchies and conceptions. In other words, the artists move away from dualistic patterns of human/animal, nature/culture to create temporal mergers. Some evoke the futuristic fantasy of a hybrid creature, while others deterritorialize (Philippe Descola) and provoke encounters where humans, animals, and the environment share a common sensitivity or even anxiety about reality. Each painting, each sculpture, then becomes a fragment of a symphony in variation where the boundaries between the human and the non-human blur, giving way to a confusion of genders, species, bodies, and technology.
