Formée à la sculpture à l’université de Brighton, Nina Mae Fowler est principalement connue pour sa pratique du dessin en noir et blanc. Fascinée par la période de l’âge d’or Hollywoodien dès le plus jeune âge, l’artiste développe une pratique puissante traitant des archétypes féminins, notamment ceux des actrices dans la culture hollywoodienne. A partir d’archives de revues de presse et de scènes de films mythiques, Nina Mae Fowler s’emploie à la construction des images, accentuant le rendu cinématographique de ses œuvres.
Trained in sculpture at the University of Brighton, Fowler is best known for her black-and-white drawings. Fascinated by Hollywood’s Golden Age from a young age, she has developed a powerful practice dealing with female archetypes, particularly those of actresses in Hollywood culture. Using archival press footage and scenes from classic movies, Fowler works on the construction of images, accentuating the cinematic rendering of her works.
