Par des voies qu’il fut seul à connaître et qu’un catalogue raisonné en trois volumes permet d’explorer utilement au niveau de l’iconographie1, Jörg Immendorff a fait exister un monde, celui d’images issues en particulier de la Renaissance, venues composer avec une réalité dont il avait eu le fol espoir ou la simple idée de pouvoir la changer.

Taking paths known to him alone, paths whose iconographic aspect can be usefully explored in the three-volume catalogue raisonné,1 Jörg Immendorff brought into being a world in which images taken, in particular, from the Renaissance, grapple with a reality that he had the wild hope or the simple idea of being able to change.
